Open Mic- Lamplight Poetry Reading

It is the second to last reading of the year before we take our usual break in December. So, move your butt. Get on down!

Doors open at 7:30pm
Poetry Reading begins 8:30pm
There is no feature. Bring the poems. Light a fire.

The sang slanted into saying, “Here am I,”
another word cupping the tongue into mysterious being,
buttered with the buzz of meaning, and littering language
into puffs of smokes where on this art I choke
and learn to breathe again. I ask the painting, the poem,
the dance, the song, the ceremonious day in and out sky,
“When you are done being beautiful what will you choose be?”

And so I ask myself, and speak in sentences direct
like I was looking squinty-eyed and searching
all the while hoping for rain and perhaps just one more,
one more poem.
